— Conquering Complexity 2026 —
Systems engineering isn’t getting any easier.
Let’s be honest: deadlines are tighter, supply chains are fragile, and the systems we’re building—whether it’s medical tech or industrial automation—are more tangled than ever. In this environment, predictability isn’t just a buzzword; it’s the entire job.
That’s why it was so incredible to see a full house at Conquering Complexity 2026 at Technopark Zürich recently. We had 130 pros dive into one big question: How do we deliver complex projects when the goalposts never stop moving?
Why this wasn’t your typical sit and listen conference. We ditched the long keynotes and passive slide decks. Instead, the day was all about doing. We ran 21 hands-on workshops across seven parallel tracks. You don’t just watch a moderator; you sit down with your peers and actually work through the problems.
The feedback was clear: in a world where everyone is strapped for time, getting learning that you can use the very next morning is a game-changer.
A few highlights from the rooms:
- Navigating Uncertainty: Anna Panagiotou shared mental models to help us structure “messy” situations rather than just reacting to them.
- Engineering Storytelling: Jessica Korzeniowska showed us how narrative can actually make complex technical ideas way more persuasive.
- The AI Reality Check: Thomas Meenken, Lucia Conconi, and Sergiu Serban gave us a grounded look at where AI actually helps in SE and where we need to manage our expectations.
- Dependency Deep-Dives: Reto Schreppers and Rolf Gubser explored how hidden dependencies are often the silent drivers of organizational complexity.
The energy didn’t stop when the workshops ended. Even though we started at 8:00 AM, the networking reception went long into the night. It turns out that when you get engineers from aerospace, infrastructure, and med-tech in one room, the shared pain creates some pretty great conversations.
Mark your calendars for 2027!
If you work with complex systems, you know that external disruptions are the new normal. Spending a day with experts who have actually lived through these challenges is time well spent.
The next date is set for 13 April 2027, at Technopark Zürich.
>> A huge thanks to our gold and silver sponsors CADFEM, Softacus AG, Jama Software & Systems Engineering A/S for keeping this event free-to-attend for the systems engineering community!
